Western Turnpike Rescue Squad is a community based 501c (3) not for profit organization.
WTRS is a Basic Life Support Ambulance Service, certified by New York State. We provide around the clock emergency transportation to hosptials via the 9-1-1 system in the Town of Guilderland.
Ambulance crews of two to four certified technicians partner with paramedics provided by the Town of Guilderland. WTRS provides service primarily to the McKownville, Westmere, Guilderland, and Fort Hunter fire districts. To provide service to this large service area, WTRS operates two stations and five full equipped ambulances.
We are governed by a Board of Directors who are all citizens or business owners in the Town.
